Do you have a background in business, design or some other practical skill set? Would you consider mentoring a young biocultural leader from an indigenous community, or assisting a school in launching a new initiative in nature appreciation? We need you!
Here are two examples of how many highly accomplished Earth Train friends have made transformative contributions as biocultural mentors and supporters:
Bob Hubbard, the CEO of the Hubbard Family Swim School in Arizona, agreed to serve as a mentor and sponsor of the young Guna leader Giuseppe Villalaz. Bob’s company, one of the nation’s most successful family swim schools, hosted Giuseppe for a five-month work/study program at their facilities in Phoenix. The experience proved to be invaluable to Giuseppe –and to Earth Train. We hired him to manage indigenous community participation in Earth Train’s highly successful Spotlight on Biocultural Leadership with Jane Goodall that took place in 2013. He is presently the manager of the Panama office of the Four Worlds International Institute, an Earth Train partner institution.
Muffy Weaver and Glenn Hovemann, the owners of Dawn Publications in Northern California, agreed to assist Earth Train in the design of a teacher training program based on the work of Joseph Cornell, the author of Dawn Publication’s classic parents’ and teachers’ nature awareness guidebook Sharing Nature With Children. The project got off to a powerful start in 2013 under the leadership of Carol and Bruce Malnor, both highly accomplished nature interpreters and authors of Dawn Publication books for children about nature.
